Sprout
Sprout is one the first cows to call the Refuge home! He arrived at Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge with his family after traveling all the way from Oklahoma where they were living on a former beef farm. After generations of operating this family farm, the owner had a change of heart, became vegetarian, and began the search for loving homes for his herd.
Sprout (son of Mandy) along with cousin, Bentley (son of Mindy) are part of this three generational family. Sprout, lovingly named for the tiny horns popping out of his head upon his arrival, is the more outgoing of the two calves! We enjoy watching him hop around and explore all of the trees and bushes in the pasture. He is already very comfortable taking treats from his human family here at the Refuge and we look forward to getting to know him more as he continues to become even more comfortable in his new home! It is truly a pleasure to be able to keep this family together and watch the little ones grow up in safety.
