Mindy
Mindy is one the first cows to call the Refuge home! She arrived at Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge with her family after traveling all the way from Oklahoma where they were living on a former beef farm. After generations of operating this family farm, the owner had a change of heart, became vegetarian, and began the search for loving homes for his herd.
Mindy and her son Bentley, along with her mother Mandy (and her son, Sprout) are part of this three generational family. Mindy is very sociable and is excited to see human visitors when they walk over to the pasture. She is very gentle, but is always keeping a loving watch over both calves. It’s really beautiful to witness Bentley continuing to benefit from having his mother close—he continues to nurse (when Mindy allows it!) and they are never too far away from one another. It is such a pleasure to be able to keep this family together and watch the little ones grow up in safety.
