Rosie
Rosie was rescued from a small backyard egg farm in North Carolina. When she and the other hens at the farm got a little older and their egg production diminished, the farmers abandoned the chickens without food, water, or shelter. By the time a neighbor realized what had happened, the hens were starving and had begun eating their own feathers for survival. Rosie and her friends had to wear special custom-made jackets for months after they arrived at the Refuge, which covered up their bald areas and helped those spots heal. Luckily, they were able to make a full recovery and are now thriving at the Refuge.
