Ernie

This sweet rooster traveled all the way to our sanctuary from Michigan, where he was confiscated from an illegal cock-fighting operation. Birds used for this industry are trained to be aggressive and often have weapons physically attached to their legs so that the fights are more deadly. Ernie has gone through quite a lot of trauma, and those scars are still obvious. While he is currently quite scared of humans and cowers when someone's hand reaches up to pet him, we are confident that he will eventually realize that he is now safe and loved. We are looking forward to watching his personality emerge as he finds peace at our sanctuary.
