Bumblebee

Bumblebee is a member of the group of hens we call The Bug Chicks! These amazing individuals were rescued from the Kaporos ritual in New York in 2023. Kaporos is a religious ritual where chickens are swung overhead while participants recite prayers, symbolizing the transfer of sins. Unfortunately, the chickens involved often face immense suffering, as they endure stressful conditions, broken bones, and are eventually slaughtered. These 10 resilient hens, once part of this antiquated ritual, are now flourishing at the Refuge. Upon arrival they were able to feel the earth, see the sun, and peck at the grass for the very first time. We look forward to providing them with many years of love, care, and freedom.
