VOLUNTEER

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge! Volunteers are an essential part of our team and play many valuable roles in the day-to-day work at our sanctuary.

  • Volunteer opportunities are listed below, and we have many options that do not require weekly commitments or previous experience.

  • Companion animals, including all dogs, are not allowed at our sanctuary due to the stress and safety considerations of the animals in our care.

  • Volunteers are expected to arrive on time for their scheduled shifts, removing themselves from the schedule if they cannot attend. In the case of a last-minute emergency, we request that volunteers call our office and leave a message at 919-533-4013.

  • Volunteers and staff members work in all weather conditions, rain or shine!

  • All volunteers should arrive and park at our Pavilion forest entrance. Use this address for your GPS: 7432 NC Hwy 87 N, Pittsboro, NC 27312. Pull into the large gravel road that is next to mailbox #7432. You will see open red gates and a purple parking sign at the entrance. Once parked, enter the Pavilion and follow the walking path that leads to the three small sheds in the center of the sanctuary.

  • Individuals who need to complete Community Service Hours or who would like to arrange for a larger Work Group should contact us via email at: info@piedmontrefuge.org

  • All volunteers must complete a waiver before participating in our programs, which should be filled out prior to the day that you volunteer. Each adult must fill out a waiver individually. Please note that anyone under the age of 18 must have a waiver completed and signed by a parent or legal guardian before volunteering.

ANIMAL HOUSE CLEANING

DESCRIPTION:
We strive to provide our animal residents with beautiful and clean dwellings. Animal House Cleaning is a group job and, therefore, is one of the best ways to meet other Refuge volunteers and community members. It's also a fantastic way to form a deeper connection with our animal residents!

NOTES:

  • Work can get messy, so make sure to wear appropriate shoes (boots) and attire.

  • Cleaning the animal houses is a very physical task - be prepared to do a lot of pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, etc.

  • We welcome people ages 18 and up and children ages 10 and up who volunteer alongside a parent or legal guardian.

  • No experience or previous volunteer work is necessary.

  • Each adult must fill out a waiver individually.

Have you filled out our online liability waiver?
