Honey, along with friends Ben, Mackenzie, and Helene, traveled to the Refuge all the way from New York. These ducks were used in a school hatching project and when they were no longer wanted, they were going to be dumped at Prospect Park in Brooklyn, NY. Domestic ducks who are released into parks and ponds have short-lived lives – they are easily caught by predators and often die of starvation. These four ducks made it to safety thanks to the help of many people who cared about their well being.
